Such silliness.....you can argue all you want as to what's "actionable" intel and what isn't. As far as I am concerned, the American failure in the Nigerian affair was not suspending the Nigerian's visa when his father complained to the US embassy. It shows we still have a problem with the CIA which in an ongoing bureaucratic snit, refuses to share intel with other intel agencies. A president should not have to be involved in the thwarting of every terrorist attack. It should be done automatically systematically. Maybe if the CIA gets cleaned up.....and after the Afghanistan fiasco, a very deep cleanup seems necessary......the system will work the way its supposed to work.

So please save your partisan jawboning for your friends. Its getting very old on this thread.

That when the president has actionable intelligence he may be able to do something but the intel on the 9/11 attack was not, in any way, shape or form, "actionable". It was vague, providing no specifics whatsoever that would have enabled the president to act on them. Other than to say, "We are anticipating a plane hijacking, so you people need to be careful and let us know if you see any people getting on planes with box cutters (oh, right. They didn't know box cutters were involved).

There simply wasn't any useful information there. I recommend you read up on the subject.
