Cisco Universal Access Servers Offers Reliable, High-Performance
Remote Access
Cisco Systems, Inc. today announced another planned deployment of the company's dial access platforms, the Cisco AS5200 family of universal access servers.
CompuServe Network Services, recently rated the best-performing Internet backbone in an independent survey, selected Cisco universal access servers as part of its next-generation dial infrastructure.
Under a multimillion dollar deal, CompuServe Network Services will deploy AS5200 universal access servers at points of presence (POPs) nationwide. The new additions will insure the company's high-speed dial access rollout strategy, supporting 56-kbps modem technology and Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) services in major metropolitan areas.
Selection Criteria: Best-of-Breed Scalability and Investment Protection
"Once again, Cisco has helped us to scale our network capacity in this period of unprecedented growth," said Dennis Brouwer, vice president of product marketing, CompuServe Network Services. "Cisco has one of the industry's highest-performance, leading-edge dial platforms. Cisco's solutions enable us to offer our customers an extremely reliable, superior service today, and prepare for the future while protecting our investment."
Kevin Kennedy, vice president and general manager of the Network-to-User business unit at Cisco, said, "CompuServe Network Services' deployment of the Cisco AS5200 family will enable them to continue to deliver a high level of network reliability and performance, as well as offer new, advanced and differentiated services, imperative in today's competitive environment."
