Could be depending on knowledge and viewpoint. There are many other religious and philisophical traditions that use other points that seem to make good sense as well... there is also REALLY INTERESTING things that happen in "Western knowledge" during development that may very well coincide with some of the other traditions. ONE incredible happening in development is the appearance of the heart like an island unto itself and with no prior nerve attachments or blood vessels leading to it. Further "blood islands" appear throughout the body and other organ development is quite amazing as well... there appears to be no "linear" causation" involved. As you probably know, in some Eastern traditions the mind is associated with the heart... further, some traditions associate different portions of "soul" to different organs, etc. Finally, despite efforts by wacko's to throw babies out with bathwater, embryology shows amazing information about the above and various stages of development: 8e.devbio.com DAK
