The judge did the right thing with respect to US law.

The question is why the prosecution team made so many "mistakes" that even a first year student at a third rate law school would avoid.
Obviously, the US Justice Dept. sabotaged its prosecution intentionally,
with the blame going to "inexperienced" prosecutors who will undoubtedly be rewarded later.
