That is just incredible but I've been through something similar with the car just shutting down while I'm driving - no notice, no warning. Just shuts down.

The first mechanic in a small town called Lone Pine on Hwy 395 said it was a little computer that regulated the fuel and had gone bad. Closest place was LA for parts, so I had to stay there 2 days and wait for Fed Ex to deliver it. Total cost: $700 - 2 motel nights, meals for 3 days, little tiny computer and mechanics time.

I made it to Tahoe but it quit working again just as I was leaving. The local mechanic said it was the alternator. I was skeptical of that but had no choice. Took a week to get the part up there. Another $400.

Actually made it home but the same thing happened again. That's when I found the best mechanic in the world who said - it's the fuel pump and it should have been something those other mechanics should have figured out or at least have checked.

Now if I'm going on a long road trip, the car goes and visits him first.

I agree with you - mechanical things suck.

What a nightmare trip, MM~! And you're right....God must have been looking out for you in helping to get you back on the side of the road...

My mechanical ability is so little you could put all of it into a very tiny thimble...and don't want to know more either. If the mechanical appliances don't work, well then...your description is very apt...

Mechanical devices suck.

At what point does the dealer stop charging you for not fixing your vehicle?
