I think a big part of it is more and more Americans are seeing that it pays THEM to buy American. Even if American cars are slightly less reliable, even now, than Asian cars. If Americans choose to buy American cars, it's NOT protectionism.


I am not convinced that Americans will buy American just for that sake......I think the product has to be competitive. IMO Ford is almost there and GM is getting there. I am not clear what Chrysler under Fiat will look like.
