That's good advice, that I'll take to heart. find the local business newspaper (here in the NW we have Puget Sound Business Journal).... He won't find a job listing there, BUT he will find what local business is doing...who is leaving town, who is closing forever, and what companies might be adding to space in the RE section. Those are companies he might want to know about. Also, in the WSJ or other such papers, a company may be hiring a Research Engineer, BUT if that's the case, maybe they will be hiring other folks as well...There are lots of ways to think about jobs that aren't the normal way of looking at the situation.
