Your point Neil that involved parents produce better education is an excellent point. My children's parents are very involved. Our kids get the message that it is important. Teachers also get the message that these are not the ones to slack off with.

Many of the brightest people go into education. They would do it for much less than current pay rates. It is egalitarian to want to reward them. Rewarding the good ones under union rules means you also reward the slackers and those who did it because they can't find a real job.

There was a recent study which showed that charter schools result in better results for students in charter schools. It also shcowed that stude3nts in public education do better when charter schools are an option.

After studying that democrats eliminated the Washington DC charter school program.
