In fact most of the educators can not be classified as the best or the brightest.

Stats consistently show that teaching gets the lowest 20% of our College grads. This shows up on testing for advanced college degrees also.

Many of the best become disenchanted by the system..

Yup. I've known a handful that quit teaching in disgust, leaving the task to the residue. There are some real saints who remain in the teaching profession. They need better incentives and recognition.
