>>> Feel-good nonsense like spread the wealth programs is like airport security.

I do think violent crime is an area where Obama really stands to do well. Why? Because he serves as a role model for millions of disadvantaged black kids around the country whose only role models to date have been hard-core, violence promoting rappers.

The very fact that Obama was elected gives these kids not only hope, but absolute proof, that determined people can do anything they want to in this country and they don't have to have government handouts to do it. They may have to stumble into some good luck along the way, as Obama did. But it starts with hard work.

I'm encouraged when walking around in a city like NOLA or Memphis and see black kids wearing Obama T-shirts because it says he has had at least SOME effect on them, and one can't help but believe it would be positive. Which is one more reason we should all hope he gets his shit together and comes to understand he isn't serving anyone's interests with a lot of what he's doing.

Particularly those kids whose role model may end up a one-termer.

>How much of government is actually working toward solving these problems,

Not enough.

>and how much of it is wasted or actually exacerbating the problem?

Probably too much, given that too many people in government don't want to fix the problem.
