It is fine to give Clinton credit for what he did do. He listened to Robert Rubin and Robert Morris in his first term which enabled him to have a second term.

Whether his own fiscal conservatism or the fact that Republicans controlled Congress had more to do with the not outrageously fast pace of spending increases I don't know. I will credit Clinton with part of the credit though.
