Mary, Re: " Some day a viable low-end business model will come along that will make some sense (meaning even AMD and Cyrix can earn some profits) and everyone will benefit ".

Answer: Assuming that AMD is still in business.
The WSJ article last April when K6 debutted, stated that JSanders bet the family's horse and jewels on his one and only AMD, +/-2 Bill$ Fab.
If he can't make a profit by price cutting, low yield, lack of new R&D
money, there will be no AMD even for the low end of business, 3 years from now.
