Perhaps so (about the optimism). I'm tempered by the realization that these sovereign lunatics seems to get away with sleight of hand/money far longer than I'd ever have thought possible.

Like a tire with a bulging sidewall, it might go 25000 more miles. But whenever she blows, it will be sudden. That's the zero reset some fear, or hope for.

The day BEFORE that will be a great day to have a huge chunk of one's stored buying power in something that passes through the ensuing wormhole. Like a couple gold coins.

By the way, the US Mint is contemplating producing some 5 ounce proof coins this year, blown up versions of the special national park quarters. I know this because they sent me a survey and asked me what I thought about that. If it comes out, it will probably be an indication that there's a more widespread push for intrinsically valuable coins again.
