Again, more good thoughts flying your way. Rent a hospital bed...they aren't very expensive per month, and it will be one of the best things she has...I wish I'd thought to do that when I had the shoulder done ... If she has to be in a rehab for a bit, call around to the more expensive places that have assisted living and a rehab floor....They are no more expensive than the other places, and the place is so much better....I was very fortunate in that when I had the knee replacement, because I was a recruiter for so long, I knew of a great place in Bellevue...they could take me, so we worked the surgery around to the time the place had the space. People were great, the food was as well, and the place was very clean. The Social Worker in the hospital usually has a list of places to check.... Good wishes to Lynne and Smithee for a successful outcome!

Oh, I am so sorry to hear of Lynne's fall and I am sending prayers for your family that all will work out well and she will recover quickly with no problems. Have experience with hip replacements as my youngest daughter has had two and I was with her at the hospital the entire time. Had a terrible accident when she was 22, right leg broken in five places and hip was crushed so had to replace. Her surgery came out excellent with no shortness of leg. Lasted for her 31 years and then had to have another ten years ago, as the pins in it started to work out through the skin on her hip. That surgery came out excellent also, but it is now bothering her and being told may need to do another as she is having spasms from her hip to behind her knee which she says is painful. She has had no trouble with any of the surgeries, had her up on a walker a few days after which was hard at first, did rehab and walking well after about a month. In the original accident she had other extensive injuries to her whole body and really was a miracle she lived. She has lived a normal active life, probably doing things she shouldn't have like going up on ladders and painting rooms in her home without hesitation or moving heavy boxes on her own. Her attitude was she wanted to get back to as normal as she could as soon as she could and I think that helped her achieve that goal and didn't want to live like a crippled person. To look at her now, you would never know what she has been through, but her body from her neck down to her knees are a mass of scars from her all the original injuries. Miracles do happen and my prayers include seeing a miracle for Lynne. Will be keeping her in my thoughts and continue constant prayers. Please keep us posted.
