Al Qaeda and the War on Terror is a huge problem and that is going to take a long time to fix. But screening passengers and their belongings before they get on an airplane is a different problem and needs to be fixed now. We need some DOE R&D money spent on developing a non invasive and efficient system to screen all passengers and their belonging to ensure there is no material that is needed to assemble an explosive device. Does not sound like such an impossible assignment.
