By MIKE BAKER, The Associated Press Last Modified: January 4th, 2010 10:13 PM While U.S. consumers and businesses filed for bankruptcy at a pace that made 2009 the seventh-worst year on record, Alaskans were tied with Nebraskans for having the nation's lowest increase in bankruptcies, an Associated Press tally showed Monday. The AP gathered data from the nation's 90 bankruptcy districts and found 1.43 million filings, an increase of 32 percent from 2008. For Alaska, where the economy was in a mild recession compared with a sharp recession in many other states, the increase in filings was 12 percent.
