The energy plan Bush/Cheney tried to pass was a supply oriented one, maximizing domestic production - the opposite of "opposed to oil independence". Obama has never, not once, talked nice to terrorists. They have posted pictures of the Gitmo prisoners naked and forced to pose in pornographic pictures. The abuse was widespread and well documented. Lie! That wasn't Gitmo. And it was uncovered, investigated and punished by the US Army BEFORE the liberal media flogged it for antiwar and anti-America propaganda purposes.

Bush eliminated BOTH of the complaints bin Laden expressed in his '98 Fatwa. Yet, they're still out there doing what they do. You cannot win the hearts and minds of people whose hearts and minds are dead set on killing you. It is a stupid argument. The only real solution is to do precisely what Bush did which is to bring freedom to the region, hope it will spread to other countries (like Iran), and allow them to see there is a better alternative than what they're choosing for themselves. They have posted pictures of the Gitmo prisoners naked and forced to pose in pornographic pictures. There isn't anything going on at GITMO that isn't going to happen in a prison in Northern IL. And it is a far more accommodating place than any prison in almost any country other than the US.
