Was? In your dreams. Not in Dallas where I lived. That was solidly Republican And Houston being Democrat? Not sure about that. Not the biggest oil city in the country. But many of my smartest friends went to Rice and they were mostly Democrats. So maybe you're right about Houston, but I doubt it. Oil and Democrats don't really go together. Then Austin is another bastion of Democratic thought. I'd say the rest of the state is solidly Republican though. Texas is a pretty reliable GOP state in Presidential contests. In fact, I think the only Democratic President from Texas was LBJ. Eisenhower and the two Bushes were GOP. Hell, even last year, when Obama was sweeping the nation, Texas still went for the GOP candidate, McCain.
