What bothers me is that a lot of Americans and Brits died needlessly because of the invasion of Iraq Bush and Blair spearheaded. In the UK, Blair is being taken to task and will undergo a multi day interrogation in front of Parliament I think. Its not jail time but its something. Here in the US, Bush gets to go off and create his multi million dollar estate in Dallas. That's it. Now I appreciate that Bush has kept his mouth shut since the election unlike his slimy VP but still.....are there no consequences for his bad behavior?

With Bush, I'm on the fence. Most of the time, I think he actually believed all of this mess. But with Cheney, I don't think that guy is lilly white. Not for one second. That man is smart as hell and he knew exactly what he was doing, right along with Wolfowitz. Those guys wanted oil and they would do anything to get it.

With Bush, his whole life was one that revolved around oil money. So I would say it was only natural for him to think the way he did. When he looked at terrorism and oil and Iraq, his whole frame of mind from his whole life experience, predisposed him to want to go to war with Iraq. Was it illegal? No. Did he lie knowingly? Maybe not all of the time, but I guarantee you he lied knowingly some of the time and maybe even at crucial moments after he knew he was already committed. What's more is once Bush committed to something, it was his way or the highway. He brooked no dissension.

If you believe it was about wanting oil and doing anything to get it, why didn't we steal Iraq's oil?

With Bush, his whole life was one that revolved around oil money.

His Dad made a small fortune in oil, but W made more by getting a piece of the Texas Rangers baseball team. Thats what established him financially and allowed him to run for governor, then President.

When Bush looked at Iraq, I think he thought what if this guy really does get a nuke? Better take him out before that can happen. The fact Clinton administration people were telling him Iraq was a danger influenced him as well.

You probably haven't heard of it but there was a book written by a former Clinton era intelligence guy named Pollack called The Threatening Storm. It explicitly made the case for invading Iraq and not waiting till Saddam got WMD's.

Thats not so, you had Powell and Rumsfeld both in the administration and they weren't together all the time. Later he replaced Rumsfeld.
