Ted, > You present quite a few observations with no backing at all. Some would call them opinions.

Of course they're my opinions. I could spend half an hour providing support for my opinions and debunking that of SilentZ's, but in the end we'll still believe in what we want to believe in.

In fact, Z just changed my opinion on something not more than a hour ago. That's what this forum is for...bringing diverse ideas to the table and discussing them to see they have any validity; and if not, what is a better way of a viewing an issue. That's why many of us present facts and support materials to back up our positions.

The frustration is that you all treat this thread as if its a pissing contest.......have done so for years. Normal discourse is nearly impossible. Its why RW has all but left. Its why I am not all that interested any more. And its a microcosm of what's going on in this country. Its why Arnold is quitting. Its why Obama is burning out faster than a candle in a wind storm. The truth no longer matters....its who screams the loudest and the longest wins.

As a kid, I would read about the British and Roman empires or Napolean and wondered if they knew when their culture had peaked and was in decline. And if so, how did they know. Now I know....its when the truth no longer has currency, when corruption is rampant and accepted, and when the object is to drain the Treasury of its monies and compensate the rich.
