Mon 3 Nov 97ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ News Release
Mr E. Annal McCaffrey reports AmCan Minerals has been operating exclusively in Sierra Leone Westÿ Africa, forÿ theÿ pastÿ fiveÿ years.ÿ Unfortunatelyÿ the country's young democratic
governmentÿ wasÿ overthrownÿ onÿ Mayÿ 25ÿ 1997ÿ byÿ aÿ militaryÿ coupÿÿ and consequentlyÿ operationsÿ in the country were brought to a halt. On October 23 1997 a peace accord was signed between the deposedÿ governmentÿ andÿ the rulingÿ military Junta, to reinstate the former Kabbah government effective April 27 1998. AmCan is preparedÿ toÿ resumeÿ operationsÿ inÿ Sierraÿ Leone immediately,ÿ howeverÿ itÿ couldÿ still take some time before the political
climate will allow that to be possible. During this period of unrest, and because ofÿ AmCan'sÿ Africanÿ experience, the company has been approached by several large diamond concession holders in other parts of Africa. The company has enteredÿ intoÿ negotiationsÿ with
theÿ principalsÿ ofÿ atÿ leastÿ one of these properties, that the directors believe, in addition to Sierra Leone, will enable the company to move inÿ a new course of direction, and significantly expand operations.

I completely agree with you - AMF MUST diversify. Too many eggs (all) in one basket. The paper received via their last three news releases before the one above must mean they are trying to make a few deals. Hopefully this news release will start a new and promising next 6 months. Like you said, patience....

Wats

I like the amount of news releases recently....sounds like they're getting things rolling. Looking forward to seeing some "concrete" news in the next while....

Hi Paulo:

A fair amount of news releases lately. AMF seems quite active which is good. Price closed at 28 pennies today; a nice move. It may be short lived but who knows?

Wats
