>> Not because of Dave's concerns, but, because of the economy.

There is some truth to that -- Carville had it right with, "It's the economy, stupid". However, there are a LOT of independents who supported Obama based on what he said he would and would not do, who are now alienated by his abject fiscal irresponsibility.

Also, a lot of people are starting to realize that Bush had the right approach to fighting terrorism and that Obama is extremely soft with these criminal trials.

I do believe a lot of people are still not getting it when it comes to the Ds actions on health care reform. But that's more about congress than it is about Obama.

If the economy were to turn around it would help him -- and he IS going to hire 800K people for the census which will give a bogus boost to the employment #s. But I don't believe that will be enough. The recession SHOULD be coming to an end (as they all do). I just don't know whether it is going to happen fast enough to help him.

"If the economy still sucks on election day, incumbents will be voted OUT. "

Not totally true. If the economy doesn't suck less(and I hesitate to use the word) than it does now, you are right. Because 'sucking' is very relative. If there is improvement, and hope for more, then there is a win for incumbents.

And there is always the wild card of the Teabaggers. At the moment they are determined to drag the Republicans to a small tent party. Things have to suck badly for that to upset Democrats. If that happens, well, they deserve it.
