kyrosl. if you were an evil politician, how would you gradually, inexorably, but comfortingly introduce a grab of the 401ks?

well, had i been one such evil, i would introduce a new schema that is for employers that don't offer 401Ks to their employees. ... basically say that these employees, most of who keep their savings in 1% savings accounts, can have a tax sheltered 401K after all, sponsored by the government with Treasury type returns, which may be low now, but are historically better than savings accounts. And, if we follow the Japanese path, may turn out to be better than lots of other alternative investments.

once the schema is in place, i would then wait for some other opportune moment to unite the people, all of the people, into one easy to manage convolution, my convolution, the convolution that the have not is already in, and therefore in support of, democratically.

sounds like a plan, no?

it is obvious that the otherwise astute you still do not see the evil, and that bodes badly for the rest, but is gold bullish ;0)

It may be even worse - looks like their may be a proposal to stop redemption of ALL MONEY MARKET FUNDS.

tundrakat.blogspot.com

I expect that these bloggers are getting tipped off about the draft and preliminary proposals floating around.

If there is considerable negative comment on these draft proposals, expect the the final public documents will be much milder - and some people on the administation's side will say "Look ! there is not nasty takeover plan ! Just paranoid rantings of silly people !"
