Christian ideology seems to have evolved so that killing other people is okay if it's in self-defence, even if it involves some "collateral damage" aka killing other people who are not a threat.

Never said that killing evil-doers is the "christian" thing, but it certainly is the self-interested "human" thing.

That's why I would often find myself a bit uncomfortable when a "religious context" was put on some of the missions our guys were running. Nothing wrong with a prayer, but we had one Chaplain (a Colonel) who was a bit over-zealous in his perspective on Islam.

We had a few talks together (we both enjoyed smoking a good cigar from time to time) and I put the bug in his ear that it was Religious Militancy OF ALL TYPES that I was opposed to.

Essentially, that no deity worth worshiping would encouraging coercing others to worship said deity.
