These models are valuable research tools. They are not crystal balls. Anyone "scientist" who claims they are discredits himself an labels himself as someone should be ignored.

The analysts who model them plot all kinds of statistics

If there was one thing I learned from a statistics class I took(I hated that class) was that you can mold statistics data to show whatever you want it to. Just as in a journalism class I took showed how the news can be slanted to match the philosophy of the paper. They actually taught that.
