I don't have a single African American friend. And so, I get my "Black Perspective" from the television. (I know, a big mistake).

Nevertheless, one of the most irritating things I hear from Black commentators is that there is a double standard. You know the line: white people get away with stuff that blacks don't because...well, because they're white and society gives them a pass. That sort of thing.

I've always scoffed at such "the man is keeping me down" excuses.

Until now. Until I saw Sarah Palin rise to the podium at the RNC.

Here's a woman who clearly struggled through college, has a daughter who hooks up with a white homey, and couldn't string two intelligent thoughts together to save her life. Can you imagine if she were black? She would be the poster child for the "pathological black community." Instead, she's knocking on the doorstep of the White House. Isn't that something?

Now I have to listen to that Jesse Sharpton and conclude that he's right. The older I get...
