I've seen moose both in Sweden and North America as well. I suppose the American ones are bigger, but they're the same species, as far as I know.

I just looked it up, though, and found out that the animal known as an "Älg" in Sweden is also sometimes referred to in english as a European Elk, which I didn't know. Hence the confusion, I suppose.
