Sony cam: Pro news camcorders are huge compared to consumer camcorders. To get a steady shot, these cameras are large, shoulder-held units. Therefore, they could conceivably hold a large MPEG2 encoding solution.

Nikkei English News via Individual Inc. : TOKYO (Nikkei)--Sony Corp. has received
orders for digital broadcasting systems based on its Betacam SX news-gathering VCR
format from 19 U.S. Tribune Broadcasting affiliates. The equipment, worth about 120
million yen, is used to transmit digital Betacam SX field footage to television stations via
satellite.

The systems include a digital satellite modulator/demodulator, camcorders and
non-linear editors.

The Betacam SX format uses the MPEG-2 4:2:2 Profile Main Level compression
algorithm and is capable of high-speed or two-channel transmission via satellite digital
circuits.

Sony will later provide additional equipment to the Tribune stations, bringing the total
value of orders to around 400 million yen.
