Toshiba's chipset is 5 chips and draws 5 watts...
Cube's is just under 1 watt.

Rumor on the street is that this is Cube all the way.
Toshiba's internal solution could not meet the cost and power consumption requirements.

Unfortunately since we hear nothing from Cube this may be a private labeling deal ala Creative.

Take a closer look at the DVD offerings that first came out. Most used Toshiba. Is that still the case?
Both Creative & Diamond have switched to Cube.
