I recall reading an Israeli think tank article, advising the Americans and the Israelis not to hold a Palestinian election or at least delaying it and fix the corruption within the PLO, he knew the consequences. After the elections were held, he opposed the sanctions against Gaza fearing a backlash and he advised that Hamas could be managed or at least steered in the right direction. Alas, no one headed his call. I will to find who that think tank was, because he knew what he was talking about.
