The Financial Post reports in its Saturday edition that Ashton Mining of Canada
released drilling results Friday that confirm an extensive thick apron of kimberlite
at its promising diamond property in northern Alberta. Reporter Keith Damsell
says that fall exploration drilling intersected a new kimberlite region in the
company's Buffalo Hills property. Preliminary results indicate "one large, irregular
and complex body" with dimensions of about 400 metres by 400 metres, about
twice the size of earlier estimates. Detailed results of the ten new drill holes are
expected to be released in early December. In addition, mechanical failure at the
company's North Vancouver laboratory have caused a delay in releasing the
results of a detailed summer drilling program. They are expected to be made
public by the end of November. The junior diamond company controls or has
options on almost 27 million acres in north central Alberta. Ashton shares $0.20
to close at $5.10 on Friday.
