China is assured of becoming more economically and militarily and politically powerful over time. No way we can stop that nor should we try. Better to try to shape the direction China takes if we can.

China's growth or anyone elses growth doesn't mean decline for the US except relatively speaking. We've lived in a bipolar world before. The USSR was a major rival. In earlier periods of our history, Britain, France and other countries were great powers.

There is often some foreign nation people here seize on as "burying" us. The USSR was one (remember the missile gap, the space race, Kruschev's boast "we will bury you"?, I have seen the future and it works - thats what was written about the Soviet Union once). Then there was Japan back in the '80's and early '90's. Now its China.
