The main problem IMO is not that their is lack of concern about the good of the country on the part of people in congress or who otherwise have political power (although the fact that its often just a secondary and sometimes just a minor concern is a problem, and perhaps a severe one), but that so many people have the wrong ideas about what's good for the country (I suspect that people with very different ideas than mine, might agree with that comment, but just lump me in as one of the group that's wrong <g>)

I agree with that re the whole bill, but I wasn't talking about the whole bill.

I was talking about synthesizing the key agreements that have already been negotiated, whether we like them or not, into a cleaner bill. A clean, 100 page bill is better for the country than a big, kludgy bill where the bills do basically the same thing. It's easier to understand, addresses things directly, and has less chance of unforeseen consequences.
