Intel Corp. To Launch New PC Camera

CHANDLER, Ariz.(Dow Jones)--Intel Corp. (INTC) said it plans to release a manufacturers kit for a new portable personal computer camera.

In a press release Monday, Intel said its 971 PC Camera Kit will simplify and speed up the the manufacturing process for the new brand of camera. The kit will be available later this month, allowing manufacturers to begin producing cameras by summer, according to a company spokesman.

The cameras, which take photographs and transmit them to a desktop computer, will retail for less than $300.

Aztech Systems Ltd., Lite-On Technology Corp. and Samsung Aerospace Industries Ltd. plan to manufacturer the portable PC cameras using the Intel 971 PC Camera Kit.

Intel manufactures computer chips and computer, networking and communications products.
