Turning the U.S. into a 3rd world subject economy is an agenda that dates back to the Reagan years, turning away from that direction may be a part of what is taking place now, although personally I have serious doubts about both current intentions and future outcomes.

Have you ever actually lived in "a ghetto"? I'm assuming you use the term to mean a closed community of the chronically poor and socially disconnected and not for example a gated community of effete, pansy-assed bitches with too much money and far too little character.

I did some entrepreneurial "urban homesteading" back in the 70s. It worked out very well for me as a bootstrap investment but it was certainly too crazy an environment to inflict on one's family given a choice in the matter. I didn't have a family at the time, so at points having to secure my property by camping out in it at night with an M16 just seemed like sweat equity at the time :-)

Should you find yourself living in such a ghetto in the future be sure and let us know how it works out, it should be good for a few laughs.
