Yes the Obama administration and Congress is distracted by partisan politics and health care. I think they've only been "distracted" by AQ and the war recently - consider how the Afghan staffing decision was drawn out. They haven't seemed too focused on AQ and terrorism either. If I were President, my top priorities would be 1) ensuring that we have a diverse energy future that includes nuclear, natural gas, and renewable energy as key components And your opposition would be from the left. Where is the conservative opposition to nuclear, natural gas or even renewable energy? I'd balance the damn budget come hell or high water. Maybe we should cut out the $800B "stimulus" plans filled with pork barrel projects.

Bill Clinton claimed he eliminated the deficit. Yet, SS and Medicare spending were STILL out of control, generating massive off-book ACCRUAL deficits that nobody even mentioned and even today, you and RW fail to acknowledge. Even as Medicare Part A has been pronounced technically insolvent 7 years hence, you act as though nothing happened and Obama's rearrangement of the deck chairs is somehow going to keep the Titanic from sinking.
