Using natural gas to replace imported oil as a transportation fuel in addition to other uses in power generation, chemicals, etc.

The U.S. has a good supply of natural gas and it serves as a bridge to get us to increased use of alternative fuels, solar, etc

I heard the plans were scaled back due to financing difficulties and other issues.

Hey, at least Boone has a plan!

The WIND is there (in a-plenty!) in the Texas panhandle, and the technology of wind power (sited correctly) produces efficient, cost-effective electricity... but the High Tension Transmission Lines are not there.

The infrastructure to actually DELIVER the power to end-users is not yet there.

That's the one problem he ran into. (America needs to upgrade it's transmission grids....)
