It appears the the White House residents have a problem with the truth no matter a big lie or a little one. :-)

Iron Chef Special Used Ringers, Not Veggies From The White House Garden

SHARE The produce used on the Food Network's Jan. 3 Iron Chef of America two-hour special White House show was billed as being from the White House garden. But the show did not disclose that "stunt double vegetables" were used and not produce from the First Family's garden.
The much ballyhooed show featured a cameo by First Lady Michelle Obama who invited the chefs to pick what they needed from the White House garden in the opening scenes. Mrs. Obama agreed to appear --and give the show access to the garden -- because the episode promoted her healthy eating themes and the garden, her signature first-year project. Iron Chef also reaches an audience that would be interested in Mrs. Obama's local food, anti-obesity and exercise agenda.

The cook-off featured White House executive chef Cristeta Comerford and star chefs Bobby Flay, Mario Batali and Emeril Lagasse. At the top of the show the chefs were greeted by Mrs. Obama who invites them to harvest what they needed from the White House garden in order to complete their challenge of preparing five "ultimate American" dishes using fresh and local ingredients. Comerford, teamed with Flay won the competition. Click play below to watch a segment from the start of the show (Michelle Obama's entrance at 1:30).

Comerford wrote about the experience over at the whitehouse.gov blog.
"Because this competition was about fresh fruits and vegetables, but also about the American experience, Chef Flay and I decided to cook to our strengths and to our heritages. To highlight the diversity of culinary traditions and flavors that define our country, Chef Flay cooked with his southwestern flair, I brought in recipes from my native Philippines, and we blended it all with unique takes on classic American recipes."
The White House segment was taped in late October. The cook-off actually took place the following week, in what Iron Chef calls its "Kitchen Stadium" in New York City.
So clearly the stuff that was picked that October day at the White House never had a chance of making it on the show because the produce would not be fresh. The use of the "stunt vegetables" was revealed in a November New York Times Marian Burros article and in Obamafoodorama.com, Eddie Gehman Kohan's web site-of-record on anything having to do with food and food policy coming out of the Obama White House. But no one knew until the show if the "stunt double" vegetables would be disclosed.
Viewers were not explicitly told that the vegetables in "Kitchen Stadium" were not the ones they had seen the chefs harvest. Various participants in the show misled viewers with references to "using radishes from the White House garden" and other similar mentions. Except for the honey, no food on the show came from the White House.
Mrs. Obama's East Wing told me the vegetables picked at the White House garden that day in October were donated to a local food kitchen, so nothing went to waste. The week between the harvest the cook-off was due to "scheduling/technical" reasons.
Lisa Krueger, the public relations director for the Food Network, sent an e-mail to me after I raised questions about why viewers were misled.
"As we have told reporters who have covered this story from the beginning, due to the production delay between the shoot at the White House and the shoot at Food Network, the produce used in Kitchen Stadium during the "Super Chef Battle" was not actually from the White House garden." The actual vegetables used, Krueger said, were "locally sourced, and the chefs were only allowed to use the types of produce that they had harvested from the garden themselves."
Obamafoodarama reported that the ratings for the White House Iron Chef of America special "set new viewer records for Food Network. ....With about 4.6 million viewers, it was the highest rated and most-watched show in Food Network's history."

Sold out! Palin-Farah ticket rocks tea-party convention
Organizers 'simply amazed at the success of this event'

The upcoming National Tea Party Convention is already a resounding success – with tickets to the convention sold out and only a few tables remaining at the final banquet.

There has been a frenzy to purchase tickets since it was first announced WND founder Joseph Farah will join former vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin as speaker at the first national tea-party convention. Farah plans to get Americans energized and excited about reclaiming the nation this year from the clutches of "tyrannical central government."

Tea Party Nation will host the first national tea-party convention from Feb. 4 to Feb. 6 at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville, Tenn.

"I am simply amazed at the success of this event so far," said Judson Phillips, Tea Party Nation president and convention organizer. "When we first came up with this idea, we thought it would be something valuable and useful. But never in my wildest dreams did I ever think this would be as big as it is. We're excited because it's going to be a historic event."

Phillips said at least 300 people have joined a waiting list for convention tickets. Banquet tickets are still available for a limited time.

Check out the amazing products, including a "Stop Spending" yard sign, at the one and only "tea party store" now!

The event will also feature prominent speakers such as Rep Michele Bachmann, R- Minn.; Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn.; WND columnist Judge Roy Moore; Phil Valentine, popular radio talk-show host and author of "The Conservative Handbook"; and Fox News Political Analyst Angela McGlowan, among others. The Tea Party Express will also arrive in Nashville for the convention.

Phillips told WND Tea Party Nation has received hundreds of requests from media outlets from all over the world that are seeking to cover the event.

"We've gotten inquiries from small-town weeklies, bloggers, big media, England, France, Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and Portugal," he said. "I got one from Croatia two days ago."

However, the organization is limiting convention press access to a small group of prominent media outlets, including the Wall Street Journal, Fox News and WorldNetDaily.

Phillips said Tea Party Nation is inviting Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele and Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine to have a two-way dialogue with the tea partiers.

"One of the big frustrations that has created the tea-party movement is the fact that average citizens want their government and want their political organizations to start listening to them," Phillips said. "If they come, they will each be offered an opportunity to make some brief remarks, and leaders of the tea-party movement will ask them some questions or will make a point and ask their response to that point."

The convention welcomes delegates coming from Maine to California and as far away as Hawaii.

"We are awaiting a response and are looking forward to an excellent event with the excitement of the attendees, leadership and speakers," Tea Party Nation said in an announcement today. "We are grateful for the overwhelming response and appreciate the positive results expected from this convention."

Martha’s Greatest Hits III: Coakley Unaccountable to Laws She’s Sworn to Enforce

Third of a series. Find parts one here and two here.

Martha Coakley is caught making false statements on financial disclosure form, does not report $262,000 in assets.

Now this is a story that only Charles Rangel could love. One of Coakley’s selling points among the plutocratic liberals of the greater Boston area is that she’s honest, since unlike a lot of other politicians, she doesn’t seem to have enriched herself unduly while “serving” at the public trough. As proof, she’s offered her financial-disclosure statements.

Oops! From the Boston Globe last November:

Coakley admits to federal filing error

Attorney General Martha Coakley, the state’s top lawyer, acknowledged yesterday that she improperly filled out a federal financial disclosure she submitted to the US Senate as part of her candidacy in the special election.

The Globe reported yesterday that Coakley was the only candidate, in disclosures due to the Senate by this week, to report that neither she nor her spouse had any reportable financial asset worth more than $1,000.

But her campaign said Coakley failed to list $200,000 to $250,000 in financial assets that are held by her husband, Thomas F. O’Connor Jr. The campaign said Coakley also failed to note a retirement account she holds that is worth $12,000.

It was…… a somewhat embarrassing omission for a perceived front-runner who oversees the state’s legal affairs.

Naturally, a campaign spokeswoman dismissed the whole thing as “mistake” – Democrat-speak for “you got me!” – and promised to file amended returns “as quickly as possible” – Democrat-speak for “any time between Hell Freezes Over and Never.”

Are you getting the sense that Attorney General Coakley is not all that well-versed in the laws of her own state or those of the federal government?
