Sounds like a plan! People who live where it freezes have all kinds of tricks. My outside faucets have a stem that reaches 18" to the actual works of the faucet, behind the edge of the foundation of my house. They never freeze. I have some semi-exposed stuff at one bathroom on the N side of my house that froze once. I keep some electric heating tape wrapped around those pipes, and they've never frozen again.
