BW,

Simply moving money out of E*Trade is not enough. I am already doing that, moving cash to Datek. I feel there absolutely has to be some public recognition of how bad things are because it would seem to violate some SEC rules somewhere?

Weren't some rules put into place after the 1987 crash that required trading houses to have some level of operation? Or can anybody hang out a shingle, collect money from people, then prevent them from accessing it?

The thing that truly annoys me and makes my move immediate is the lack of any kind of goodwill from E*Trade. They simply don't acknowledge problems, don't deal with customers en masse, and don't fix problems that have been there for months. If I was manager, I'd be looking for to start firing network/web people working there and hiring (at any cost) people that know what they are doing. To this day, they don't even have as a possible reason an acknowledgement that they may be experiencing difficulties on their side.
