Candidate leads protest of CAIR 'town hall' Islamic group with terror ties hosts session on profiling near Oklahoma City January 15, 2010 © 2010 WorldNetDaily wnd.com Citing the group's ties to terrorism, a Republican congressional candidate in Oklahoma is leading a protest of the Council on American-Islamic Relations' town hall tonight on airport profiling and security. Kevin Calvey, a candidate for Oklahoma's fifth district seat, points out the Washington, D.C.-based CAIR has been identified by several law enforcement sources as a front for the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas. "Oklahomans should be outraged that a group like CAIR is operating in our midst," said Calvey, a former state representative who prosecuted terrorists while deployed with the Army National Guard in Iraq. CAIR, an unindicted co-conspirator in the Justice Department's terrorist-financing case against the Texas-based Holy Land Foundation, plans to hold the meeting in Moore, Okla., near Oklahoma City, at 7:00 p.m. at Melody Hall, 2280 North Broadway. WND has reported in recent months on a book – "Muslim Mafia," by WND Books – based on a six-month undercover investigation that obtained internal documents confirming CAIR is acting as a front for a conspiracy of the Muslim Brotherhood to infiltrate the U.S. and help pave the way for Saudi-style Islamic law to rule the nation. The Egypt-based Muslim Brotherhood is the parent of many global terrorist groups, including Hamas and al-Qaida. CAIR has sued the father and son who carried out the investigation, P. David Gaubatz and Chris Gaubatz, in an attempt to reclaim the documents and stop further distribution of the book. Calvey, who was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in Iraq, noted the FBI broke official ties with CAIR one year ago because of the group's support of terrorism. Calvey urged protesters to arrive early tonight to make their views about terrorism known. "This is not about protesting Islam. This is about protesting terrorism," he said. "There are many Muslims who cooperate with America and our allies in the fight against terrorism." Calvey said CAIR is a group, however, that "appears intent on pushing propaganda for terrorists and hampering America in the fight against terrorism." Calvey's mission in Iraq was to prosecute al-Qaida leaders and other terrorists in the Iraqi court system. He's a small businessman in the Oklahoma City area.
