1/22/10 Update
The Republican win in Massachusetts was not enough to counter worrisome economic news as nervous investors dumped stocks. One also wonders whether GS & Co. may have unleashed their gang of Killer Bears to warn Obama not to push his bank breakup plan. At Friday's close, the Nasdaq Composite Index was down -2.81% YTD (vs. up .83% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 1.94% YTD (vs. up 3.06% YTD a week ago). The Contest median also got hit but still closed up 4.17% YTD (vs. up 5.54% YTD a week ago).
Portfolios holding GNVC got a big boost and WYD's portfolio, which has 20% in GNVC took the Contest lead with a 35.88% YTD gain. The other four portfolios holding GNVC (GEORGIA, PGO, BIOFISH, THEOX) also ranked high on the Top Ten list.
At Friday's close, 24 of the 32 Contest portfolios were in the black and 20 of the 32 were beating the NBI.
Have a great weekend biotechies!
