It is difficult to criticize our response in Haiti, just as one couldn't rationally criticize the federal response in NOLA.

After Katrina almost EVERYONE criticized GWB's response. CJ, RW, others -- and frankly, just about everyone I knew -- liberal or conservative -- criticized the GWB response.

But the reality is that Katrina and Haiti present similar challenges. No communications, no access via road (in NOLA, due to flooding, in HAITI because of corpses in the streets, apparently), threats of violence, etc.

One of the key similarities is that Haiti has no functioning government, and neither did NOLA. American military people can move into Haiti, however, while Kathleen Blanco refused to allow access to US troops to NOLA.

The USNS Comfort, on the 4th day after the Haiti quake, still sits in its port.
