In public they'll blame Coakley as a bad candidate .. in private, they'll panic.

I think the leadership will do a panic push but they will have defections - maybe Stupak et. al., or some blue dogs, or even some liberals who want to keep the public option issue alive. There's more than one Democrat who sees what a death march this bill has become and will breathe a sigh of relief if Scott Brown wins.
