Have you ever noticed how Amazon recommends books in the same genre as things you've ordered through them. Buy a camera through them and they'll start delivering information about extras and accessories. Buy a mystery and they'll recommend 5 books. They'll also tell you what you've ever bought through them.

Well, you just settled that. I've wondered for a long time why I keep getting solicitations for online viagra.

<iWhat information can you possibly put on Facebook that matters? It's no different than here on SI. Anyone can read what you post here. They don't have to be a member to see what you post. But you have to be a "friend" in order to see what you post on Facebook.

So true. If you google a name or alias from SI, you often come up with hits of the person's post.

The idea of snoopy employees sitting in some back room making lists of who they want to contact, or date, or which email to sell to whomever or what ever is repulsive. The things you mention are electronic and done with software that is bought and paid for (or developed by) and approved by management.

These people had no business doing what they were doing, and in fact it should be illegal if it isn't already.
