I hadn't thought about it this way, but a woman called in to the Boston radio station yesterday to speak for a number of her fellow SEIU members. They wanted to be heard.

These folks were really upset about the bargain cut for union members in re: to the tax on cadillac insurance plans. Even though it would protect their own plans, most of them had friends and family that would lose their insurance plans under the burden of such a steep tax. They're starting to feel a lot of resentment turning in their direction and they neither like it nor want it.

Their feeling was that, in the end, the bargain wasn't worth it. They don't want any part of a plan which pits them against their family and friends. They want reforms to be fair and not be the source of hard feelings within and among their communities.

They wanted people to know that this was why (this particular group) was breaking off in favor of Scott Brown and smiling for the cameras. Their commitment to community is greater than to their unions.

I was happy to hear that.
