>>I'm exactly in the same position as you. Highly margined and fully LGND. Any move below 13 before February, and I'll have to sell. By February, I intend to increase my position, if reasonable prices prevail.<<

Alper, I'm not fully LGND, but close to 40% of my total, which by alll measures of diversification is close to insanity. And probably close to about 55% of my marginable securities. We are beginning the high season for biotechs, so I think our chances are good. One would have thought LGND would have done better in light of the LLY deal, but there whould be much more news to come over the next few months.

>>I'm afraid you'll also lose the third bet with Henry (I guess this was the one for $30 by Aug. 98). However, this is not to say that LGND will not go up. I believe that we'll go up with a slower pace.<<

Not sure what you are saying here. The second bet is that LGND won't hit 20 by Jan 1. If it does, I lose. I hope to lose that one. 3rd bet I win if LGND doesn't hit 20 by August. I think I will win that one.

As far as your R and D stage comments go, things depend a lot on what the market PERCEIVES will be approved and when. LOOK at IMNX and CNTO. IF (and now a big IF with LLY involved) we see the P2s for Targretin in diabetes and they are very good, that could be worth 2 or 3 points to the stock price by itself. I fear we won't see them now. I agree that price appreciation may not be as rapid as we hoped, but one never knows in this sector.
