Because I have not seen Avatar, I have no opinion on the movie or its purported philosophy. Rather, my post was concerned about the apparent reaction of Chinese authorities to the movie, and not the merit of the movie itself. In the US and most places the movie will play until it ceases to sell tickets. In China it will play until the authorities say enough is enough. Strange you cannot see the difference, although perhaps we operate under different constraints. wg

Maybe it's about Canada and the dispersion of the Acadians... ripped from and tossed off their land certainly fits :O) Then again I guess they (Acadians) did the same... This is an old story.. What country of the Americas was not built that way.. Then again maybe it was about Aborigines and Australian settlement.. I wonder if I can come up with another parallel :O) Not sure that was wg's point... EDIT: I wonder if the US is heading that way to meet China in the middle somewhere ?
