He can't answer the first question, but I can. It was the Xerox "Star" system, that had a mouse and a GUI (in 1981!), but cost $20,000!

Jobs stole the GUI and the mouse, but didn't really the steal the OS, which was object oriented and Smalltalk based. I wish he had! It was light-years ahead of what Apple put behind the glass.
