AICE update.....DRAM is still having problems....if Akidron is right...we should see some serious spending on semi cap equipment to improve margins and maybe make some money....

Today's Commentary: 11/03/97

16 meg DRAM (4Mx4, 1Mx16, FPM & EDO, SOJ) is dropping
in price again. Intel CPUs are holding after a week of trading
that showed a slight increase in select classic Pentium
models(200 & 166 MHz).

hadn't looked at it that way round, but you are right. I dug a bit deeper and found that Thompson, Philips and Siemens all have agressive plans to produce semi equipment, and that Siemens has apparently already announced 300mm stratergy. However I believe that demand from new European fabs will come before their ability to supply it so in the medium term AMAT will be fine. After that, who knows for sure. But I never pretended to be long term.
